About Jeremy Maldonado
Jeremy Maldonado, a native Houstonian, studied at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan, New York. Upon returning from New York City, Jeremy Maldonado attended the University of Texas in Austin and received an undergraduate degree in Political Science.
Upon graduation from college, he married his high school sweetheart. Soon after marrying his wife, he relocated his family to Iowa City to attend law school. He received his law degree from the University of Iowa where he was a research assistant in International Human Rights Law and Race Discrimination.
At the University of Iowa Legal Clinic, he helped defend students that faced criminal charges. He also clerked at the Texas Civil Rights Project in Austin and the Rio Grande Valley where he assisted clients in lawsuits alleging police brutality or disabilities discrimination.
Upon receiving his law degree and passing the Texas Bar he joined the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. His experience as an Assistant District Attorney shaped his ability to truly understand the intricacies of criminal law and general constitutional rights. Jeremy Maldonado served as a Prosecutor for the Harris County District Attorney’s Office for over three years. While serving as an Assistant District Attorney, he has prosecuted cases in the 262nd, 174th, and 314th District Courts in addition to County Criminal Court at Law No. 7, 8, 9, and 13.
He has supervised several prosecutors through plea negotiations and trials during his position as Chief Prosecutor. In addition, Jeremy Maldonado has led numerous trials and hearings in several different misdemeanor and felony courts. His experience as a criminal prosecutor will help give anyone, accused by the state of committing a crime, the insider knowledge necessary to properly defend the State’s accusations.
